Lilli Marlit is a multimedia artist and illustrator from Germany, now based in Lisbon. As the child of a German mother and a French-Caribbean father, her multicultural background has deeply influenced her artistic perspective and the themes she explores.
Lilli studied visual communication at the renowned Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany, where she obtained her Bachelor's degree. After spending a few months in Accra, Ghana, to complete her Bachelor's project — a transformative experience that broadened her creative outlook — she interned at the The Three Shadows Photography Art Centre in Beijing, China. She later moved to Spain, where she spent four years exploring various disciplines and refining her artistic voice.
She describes her work as “shaped by the space in between,” a concept that reflects both the themes of identity, duality, and connection and the transitional spaces where she feels most at home.
Lilli’s compositions, marked by intricate lines, playful shapes, and dynamic storytelling, blend abstraction with figuration. Each piece unfolds gradually, inviting curiosity and introspection. For her, her art is an improvisational play where every element builds on the next, resulting in works that are bold, vibrant, and vividly expressive.
